The Hocking Fellowship Program was established in honour of the late Barbara Hocking OAM, who worked tirelessly to improve the wellbeing of Australians living with complex mental health issues.

The Hocking Fellowship and Hocking Community Award honour the late Barbara Hocking OAM (Executive Director of SANE 1995–2012), who worked tirelessly to improve the wellbeing of all Australians affected by complex mental health issues.
Barbara Hocking was a pioneer of inclusive and innovative program design. She led SANE’s commitment to learning from those with lived experience as the experts on their own experiences. She remained a staunch champion of this collaborative approach to advocacy throughout her life.
All Hocking Fellowship and Hocking Community Award projects must reflect Barbara’s legacy.
