Who can be a SANE Speaker?
SANE Speakers can be:
- people with their own lived experience of mental illness
- families, friends and carers, whose lives are affected by mental illness.
Speakers talk candidly in public about their personal experiences, contributing their unique voice and authentic perspective to SANE's work with corporate, government and non-government organisations, the media and the broader community.
Speakers are frequently invited to contribute to advocacy and research, as well as providing feedback on the development of new information resources.
SANE provides training and support for Speakers and manages their presentations.
What our speakers say
Being a speaker with SANE has been an amazing opportunity to share my story in the hope that it can help others . . . I know my story has had a positive impact. Walking away from a presentation in the knowledge I’ve helped employers to be aware of those that may be suffering, and how to support them is a beautiful thing.
The distance travelled by the Speaker program should now be considered as vast. In kilometres, and with renewed influence. The success of the program now includes two international networks. Those that hear us, and finally, those that are listening.
