Newspaper reinforces outdated stereotypes

Issue: A regional newspaper ran a front-cover story which depicted a politician photoshopped in a straightjacket with the accompanying headline Loony Lefty Limbo. The straightjacket and the headline portrayed an outdated and insensitive stereotype of mental illness treatment.

Result: Staff at the publication received Mindframe training on the importance of reporting mental illness responsibly.
