Mental Health Awareness Month 2022 - Elderly woman standing in garden

Did you know? … There are millions of people living with complex mental health needs in Australia.

Conditions like schizophrenia, PTSD, bipolar and borderline personality disorders, OCD, major depression, and eating disorders can often involve severe and enduring symptoms.

They can commonly co-occur with other mental and physical health challenges and are often misunderstood or stigmatised by the general community.

People living with complex mental health issues often require both clinical and psychosocial support for recovery. Their carers, families and loved ones need support too.

But sadly, what we often see is the complex mental health community falling through the cracks of our current mental health and social support systems.

Living with complex mental health needs isn’t easy, but with the right support, people living with complex mental health can live long, fulfilling and productive lives.
