After four years of outstanding service, Marg O’Donnell AO has decided to step down as Board Chair of both SANE and The Dax Centre and pass the leadership reins to Lucy Myer.
"It's been a privilege and a pleasure to serve as Chair and to be leaving the organisation in such great shape. I'm proud of all the organisation has been able to achieve under my stewardship and I wish SANE and The Dax Centre all the best for the future," said Marg.
Lucy Myer commends and thanks Marg for her huge contribution.
"Under Marg’s leadership, SANE has undergone a period of unparalleled growth including the establishment of the Anne Deveson Research Centre, the merger with The Dax Centre, the launch of the Better Off With You suicide prevention initiative, the development of a comprehensive Lived Experience Peer Ambassador program, the establishment of the Mental Health Leaders Group, strong financial results, securing new premises for the organisation, the highest ever engagement with our Forums and Help Centre and putting in place an organisational infrastructure and systems which positions SANE so well for the future," said Lucy Myer.
The Board of SANE thanks Marg for the wealth of skills and expertise she brought to the role of Chair and her massive time commitment along with all the travel involved with a national organisation while being based in Brisbane. No doubt Marg will continue to make a contribution with boards both within Australia and overseas and devote more time to her extensive mentoring of senior executives and directors.
As new Chair, Lucy Myer looks forward to working with the Board and the SANE Executive team to formulate a 2030 Vision for SANE which will be launched in 2021 to coincide with SANE’s 35th anniversary.
Lucy Myer has been a Board member of SANE since 2014, and The Dax Centre since 2018. Lucy has chaired the Fundraising Committee of the SANE Board and also been a member of the Risk Management and Audit Committee. Along with a deep personal passion for complex mental health issues, Lucy also brings to the position her professional experience in digital, marketing and philanthropy. Lucy also served for many years on various committees of The Myer Foundation.
