About Future Generation

Future Generation Global (FGG) is an internationally focused Australian investment company with the dual objectives of providing shareholders with diversified exposure to global equities and changing the lives of young Australians affected by mental illness.

FGG’s goal is to promote the mental health, wellbeing and resilience of Australian children and young people by supporting smarter service system development and investing in effective programs and services so that young Australians can have access to the supports, information and services they need, when they need it, to maintain their mental health and lead an active and engaged life.

Support for SANE

FGG helps fund SANE Assist to enhance access to evidence-based services, resources, information and referral pathways for young adults aged 18–30, affected by complex mental health issues including young carers.

Young adults in this 'transitional' age bracket experience unique psychosocial, physiological and social stressors, with the onset of illnesses such as schizophrenia, bipolar, personality disorders, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorders more likely to occur in emerging adulthood. This project aims to reduce stigma and barriers to care for these young adults, thereby promoting help-seeking and early access to treatment.

Our short-to-medium outcomes are to deliver:

  • Improvement in service delivery quality for young adults aged 18-30
  • Engagement with young adults that promotes mental wellbeing
  • Increase service demand and uptake for the SANE Help Centre

Our long-term aim is to improve the mental wellbeing of young adults affected by complex mental health issues through:

  • Increased confidence and capacity to seek help
  • Reduced feelings of stigma/self-stigma
  • Increased knowledge and awareness of complex mental illness
  • Connection with others of similar lived experiences

Over the five-year funding period FY17-FY21, the 'SANE Assist' project phases include:

  • Years 1-3: Reach engagement, capacity building, and service quality improvement for the SANE Help Centre (1800 phone, webchat, email, online forums, SANE website)
  • Years 4-5: 'SANE Assist' service model design and development
