About Future Generation

Future Generation Global Investment Company (FGG) is an internationally focused Australian investment company with the dual objectives of providing shareholders with diversified exposure to global equities and changing the lives of young Australians affected by mental illness.

FGG’s goal is to promote the mental health, wellbeing and resilience of Australian children and young people by supporting smarter service system development and investing in effective programs and services so that young Australians can have access to the supports, information and services they need, when they need it, to maintain their mental health and lead an active and engaged life.

Support for SANE

Funding from FGG helped SANE Australia expand our stigma reduction, awareness-raising and peer support activities for the 140,000 young adults (18-35 years) living with complex mental illness along with their families, friends and colleagues.

In July 2016 SANE launched its national Thriving Communities campaign to raise awareness of complex mental illness and the benefits of online peer support.

Following its success, we expanded our support, advocacy and awareness-raising initiatives in 2017 to ensure more realistic portrayals of how young adults manage the challenges of living with a complex mental illness.

We also connected young adults to online peer support through the SANE Forums and created opportunities for them to become involved in promotion and advocacy initiatives through a new SANE Ambassador program.

In 2017 and 2018, FGG supported SANE in encouraging young adults at risk of, or experiencing, complex mental illness to access our Help Centre and the SANE Forums. SANE, in partnership with youth mental health organisation batyr, worked with 14 young adults to co-design a program of user-generated content focussing on first-person storytelling, which culminated in a workshop event with Shadow Assistant Minister for Mental Health Senator Deb O'Neill.

In 2019, SANE will continue to build on this work, helping improve the lives of young adults affected by complex mental illness, with continued support from Future Generation Global.
