Mental illness doesn't dodge middle class
Stigma Files 2008

The Courier Mail published ‘Mentally ill  pushed out – middle class grabs care’ by Michael Madigan on 8.5.08.

The article stated the following:

‘Queensland’s urban middle class is swamping psychologists for free therapy, pushing the genuinely mentally ill to the back of the queue’

Responding to reader feedback, StigmaWatch contacted Michael Madigan to let him know that this choice of wording may be unintentionally misleading. Mental illness affects all people equally. One in five Australians experience mental illness at some time in their life, genuine cases include rich and poor alike.
