Nando's Australia is currently re-screening the 2006 'Nando's Patch' advertisement. The ad features a woman in a strait jacket with the voice over 'Can't be trusted with cutlery? Get a Nando's Patch'. The ad perpetuates the stereotype of people with a mental illness being violent.

Mr Picker, Managing Director of Nando's, gave us an assurance last year that no offence was intended and that this ad would not run again without modification.

Despite his reassurances the ad has reappeared, causing some StigmaWatchers to feel mocked and vilified. SANE contacted Mr Picker on the 23rd of February 2007 and received an unconditional apology and a guarantee that the ad will not appear again without appropriate editing.
