Australian Idol judge and Sydney shock jock Kyle Sandilands commented on the Network Ten program on 17.9.07 that 'the mental institutions' must have been voting in order to produce the result of the night.
Sandilands' comments implied that people with a mental illness do not have a valid vote and aren't fit to judge good music.
StigmaWatch contacted the production company and Network Ten to let them know that these comments are out of step with community standards and unacceptable.
Network Ten edited the Idol website to remove the statement.
