SANE Australia recently contacted the Cat Sterilisation Society of Western Australia after it was stated in their newsletter, Cat Tails, that people do not have their cats sterilised because they are 'selfish, ignorant, careless, drug effected (sic)' or 'mentally ill'.

SANE telephoned the society to express the concerns of some cat lovers affected by mental illness, stating that it was a gross generalisation to draw this conclusion and perpetuated unhelpful stereotypes.

The Cat Sterilisation Society were not receptive to SANE's concerns.
