'Schizophrenic' view - reply
Stigma Files 2006
Monday, 02 October 2006
0611_stig_abc_amAccording to Leigh Sales, National Security Reporter for the ABC, Australians have a 'schizophrenic view' of the United States. The comment was made in the story 'Poll Finds Australians sceptical about Iraq War' on 2.10.06.

StigmaWatch received reports from readers affected by schizophrenia, distressed that Ms Sales and the ABC were perpetuating the notion of schizophrenia as a split personality.

SANE Australia wrote to Ms Sales urging her to avoid using 'schizophrenic' to denote duality, in accordance with the Australian Government's guidelines on reporting.

Ms Sales replied on 26.10.06. and thanked SANE StigmaWatch for bringing this issue to her attention.
