According to Crikey media writer Glenn Dyer, Channel Seven's use of the television show 'True Stories' is schizophrenic, because the program is used as a filler.
Mr Dyer's comments were published in the article 'Seven believes in True Stories' (Crikey.com.au, on 06.09.06). StigmaWatch received reports from readers affected by schizophrenia, distressed that Mr Dyer was perpetuating the notion of schizophrenia as a split personality.
SANE Australia wrote to Mr Dyer urging him to avoid using 'schizophrenic' to denote fragmentation; schizophrenia does not involve split
personality.
Mr Dyer replied on 09.10.06.
