According to Ms Sue Neales, a reporter for The Mercury, Tasmanian farmers have ‘schizophrenic’ feelings about the operation of a financially lucrative but ugly and odorous paper mill. The Mercury, a Tasmania news paper, published the comments on 07.11.05.
SANE Australia wrote to Ms Neales on 22.11.05 explaining how the incorrect use of the term only serves to perpetuate the false notion that schizophrenia means 'split personality'.
