Woman’s Weekly readers contacted StigmaWatch to nominate the article ‘Loving him without fear,’ by author Georgia Blain as a Good News story. Published in the March issue the article is an excerpt from Ms Blain’s new book ‘Births, deaths, marriages,’ and talks about her experience of having a brother with schizophrenia.

Readers stated that without promoting fear and misunderstanding, the article explored the impact mental illness has on the individual and the family – and emphasised the tragedy of suicide. Contextualising schizophrenia within a family in this way makes it clear that anyone can be affected.
