Flippant references to mental illness on television are found by many Australians to be stigmatising and highly offensive, this is especially the case when the comments are made as part of a comedy.

ABC TV's Gruen Transfer was reported to StigmaWatch in consecutive weeks, with comments by Wil Anderson and a panelist offending some viewers.

StigmaWatch contacted the producer of Gruen Transfer and discussed the public's concerns and offense the show's comments had caused.

StigmaWatch noted that in the past concerns about the program's content were rare and encouraged Gruen Transfer to raise the recent complaints in upcoming production meetings.
