The SANE Media Centre provides the media and the mental health sector with guidance about reporting and portrayal of mental illness and suicide-related issues. The SANE Media Centre achieves this by providing a ‘one-stop’ service of information, expert comment, advice and referral.
The SANE Media Centre is supported by the Australian Government as part of the Mindframe National Media Initiative.

StigmaWatch
SANE Australia's StigmaWatch program voices community feedback about representations within the media that stigmatise mental illness or inadvertently promote self-harm and suicide. The program also provides positive feedback to the media about accurate and responsible portrayals of mental illness and suicide which help break down stigma and increase understanding of mental illness.

SANE Factsheets provide up-to-date and easy-to-read explanations of a range of mental health problems, such as schizophrenia, bipolar, depression, anxiety disorders and suicide, and discuss treatment options, healthy living, bereavement and related issues. SANE podcasts complement the factsheets, providing comprehensive interviews on a growing range of topics.
SANE Research Bulletins
The SANE Research Bulletin series provides ‘real world’ evidence and commentary on mental health issues, by asking people affected by mental illness to share their views on topics that affect their lives.

Mindframe National Media Initiative
The SANE Media Centre is supported by the Australian Government as part of the Mindframe National Media Initiative. The Mindframe Initiative is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing and guided by the National Media and Mental Health Group, with representatives from peak media and mental health organisations. The Initiative aims to influence media coverage of issues related to mental illness and suicide by encouraging responsible, accurate and sensitive portrayals.
