Onset of mental illness often occurs between the ages of 15 and 20. SANE resources reflect this, including significant contributions from young adults to help them to get to a diagnosis of what they are experiencing, or better understand the conditions they are starting to live with.

Mental illness hits family members particularly hard. Most carers find their physical and mental health suffer as a result of the caring role.
