Reports are assessed for action by the following criteria:  

 

Stigma

 

The incident involves use of inaccurate or inappropriate reporting of mental illness or suicide.

Media

 

The incident has appeared in the media, whether it be a TV or radio program newspaper or magazine article, editorial or advertising. 

Australian

 

The incident originated in the Australian media. 

Verified

 

Full details of the stigmatising incident are supplied, including source, date and name of the person responsible. Where possible, copies of articles should be sent to:

Current

 

The report is sent within one month of the occurrence of stigma. 

Decision

 

The decision to follow-up any incident lies with SANE Australia, based on these criteria and availability of resources. 

Please note if you are reporting on stigma in a newspaper please send the article or a copy of the article. If you are submitting a report on an online article, please supply the full web address.
