Friends in Business

SANE Australia’s ‘Friends in Business’ program promotes better understanding of depression, anxiety disorders and other mental health problems in the workplace, through –

  • Education sessions provided by our trained SANE Speakers

  • Access to SANE's workplace resources, including posters, pamphlets, books and DVDs helping understanding of mental illness, tips for supportive and productive supervision, and hints for those affected and colleagues

  • Customised Guidebooks and other resources

  • Access to the 1800 18 SANE Helpline.

Increased awareness of mental health issues in the workplace helps employer and employee – contributing to maintaining productivity as well as improving support for the person affected.

Businesses can also support SANE’s work through -

  • Offering a Workplace Giving program to employees

  • Supporting specific SANE projects to help people with a mental illness.

A few of our generous business supporters . . .

Mallesons Stephen Jaques
Law firm, Mallesons Stephen Jaques, make sure staff are aware of the impact of mental illness. By hosting SANE Speaker events, Mallesons’ lawyers now better understand the effects of mental illness on professional people, and coping strategies they can use. They also generously make individual donations through payroll giving, which Mallesons matches.

Number 8 Group
The Number 8 Group Ltd brings the for-profit and the not-for-profit worlds together in a unique way. The Number 8 Group owns Green Light Couriers, a commercial company, which uses all its profits for charitable purposes. SANE has received an inaugural grant from Number 8 Group to help train SANE Speakers to educate the community about mental illness.

3 Mobile
3 Mobile became Friends in Business when they selected SANE as a partner of their ‘Spirit of 3’ community engagement program. 3’s staff are able to support SANE through payroll giving, while the company provides further funding as well as practical support, such as using their technology to assist the SANE Helpline manage calls from mobile phones.

SANE thanks Friends in Business for their financial and practical support, and particularly for working towards a supportive working environment and community for people affected by mental illness.
